Engagement Photos

Tonight is the first night, since I don’t remember when, that I’ve actually spent more than 5 minutes on the computer. I’ve been tweeting and facebooking up a storm, but all of that has been from my trusted iPhone. I’ve seriously had no desire to play with my laptop, mostly because every time I get on the computer I’m looking up wedding stuff, and right now I’ve taken some time off from planning. It is just plain stressful and exhausting. So, while I’m on the computer I thought I would share some of our engagement photos with y’all. Hope you enjoy!

These are only a few from one shoot – all taken by the amazing Jaime Huffman.

I’m baaaaaaack

Guess who’s back??? Obviously me, right? I know I went A-Wall there for a few weeks but I needed a break! I work at a computer all day long, so sometimes when I come home I have no desire to sit down at another computer! So I took some time off from the blog, and any internet that wasn’t accessible by my phone, to spend time with Matt and Cruise, and to do enjoy things I love!

back2

I’ve been running, attending weddings, and enjoying family and friend time as much as possible. This past weekend was the last wedding we have to attend until ours and I am thrilled. As much as I enjoy weddings, Matt and I really need to use the time we have left to plan our own. March 23rd is sneaking up on us and we still have so much to do!

So for the next few months expect to see a lot about running, yoga (my two fitness loves right now), tons of wedding planning (gotta document some how), and lots of holiday celebrating!

The Pink Grapefruit is now back to regularly scheduled blogging! Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

25th birthday!

Get ready for picture overload. This past Saturday was my 25th birthday (EEK!) and the celebrations started Thursday when Matt gave me my gift. We had a wedding to go to Saturday, my actual birthday, so we celebrated with each other and a few friends Friday, and then with my family on Sunday! I’m beyond blessed!

25 feels CRAZY! I can’t wait for the upcoming year!

Scenes From My Week

Pumpkin Waffles. I made a ton and froze them to have on hand for breakfast. Recipe from Runner’s World.

scene13

A very very small example of lunch and dinner this week. Veggie overload.

scene11scene12

Midweek treat from my boss. Mini blueberry cheesecake cupcake. If any of you are in Spartanburg and haven’t been to Sugah Cakes – GO. Best. Cupcakes. EVER.

scene10scene9

Ferris wheel at the fair. I didn’t ride but my sister did. I’ll ride all sorts of rides at amusement parks but fair rides freak me out. I mean, some guy just put that took those rides down and put it back together. What if he had a bad day? Not for me!

scene7

Matt and I waiting on my sister to finish riding rides. All I wanted was a funnel cake and to see the animals!

Goats on the left, alpacas on the right. Please look at the alpaca – he was trying to eat the fence, AFTER he tried to literally take the money out of my wristlet. Thief.

And finally, I got that funnel cake I was waiting for! OMG So, SO good! Pay no mind to my mother in the background, she’s just about to burn her mouth from the bite she stole out of my hand. Karma, I tell you.

Yoga Challenge Week 1 Recap

Even though I mentioned sharing all of my eats was impossible, I’m going to show you a few from today. Nothing crazy, but I got a little push by someone who enjoys the food portion, so I’ll still share occasionally. Today’s lunch and dinner my friends: Buffalo chicken salad with blue corn chips and chicken sausage, roasted broccoli, and Alexia sweet potato fries. Dinner served with healthier homemade ranch for dipping fries!

I also enjoyed one of these over the weekend. I’ve been doing pretttty great at keeping my sweet tooth at bay but there are a couple of things during the month of October I can’t resist.

cs5

Pumpkin spice doughnuts from Krispy Kreme take the number one spot for those things. The runner up would be funnel cake. The fair started this week, so I can promise I’ll be enjoying one. Another thing that I just couldn’t resist? The Vanilla Chocolate Chunk Chobani I finally came across at the grocery store last week. This stuff is deeeelish.

cs6

And that yoga challenge I mentioned I would be participating in? It’s going pretty great. I have the same goals as Courtney. At least 3 yoga sessions per week. Week one was a success and included 2 rounds of Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown and one free session from YogaDownload. I’m new to YogaDownlaod but I’m loving it. I did a 20 minute session this morning that focused on core and let’s just say it was very humbling. I have a feeling my abs will be on fire in the morning but that’s a good thing right? Toning up my core is something I definitely need to be doing so I’m hoping the yoga challenge will help! So far, so good, right?

Capture

Some other fun things going on: I got my hair colored – it’s hard to tell in the picture but it’s a more subtle ombre.

Annnd I have the sweetest fiance ever. Just in case any of you were ever curious!

Like I said last post – TV series premieres are taking over my life and tonight is the very last Gossip Girl premiere. Time to prepare!

Grey’s Emotions

Hello Hello! Considering my lack of blogging lately, I think maybe I should share a couple of things going on lately! I’ve been so busy that the only time I sit down is when all of my premieres come on TV! Like Grey’s Anatomy – am I the only one who thinks Shonda Rhimes is trying to gut punch her fans with all the deaths and drama?! Geez, woman!

Anyways, like I said, I’ve been busy. Mostly with wedding planning – we’ve been able to knock some things out which has been such a relief for me! All 11 of my bridesmaids’ dresses have been ordered (which was a job in itself btw) and Matt and I finally chose a wedding band! By band I mean musical band, not the rings you wear on your finger, however, we have chosen those also.

We picked our flowers, and have finally narrowed down about how many we’ll have to purchase. Our wedding flower is hydrangea and we are getting them all from Michael’s and going the DIY route. We chose artificial flowers because my allergies are nuts and I do not need to be walking down the aisle sneezing in my bouquet. Now that would be a complete disaster.

I haven’t even taken any pictures of my food because honestly, it’s not anything you haven’t seen before. When I started this blog I had intentions of blogging my food daily but that changed real quick. I mean let’s get real for a second – I work 9 to 5 and around that time I have to work out, find time to cook dinner and eat every other meal, and spend time with my little family. I do not have time to blog every day, much less blog everything I eat and it make sense. I’m also getting married, and wedding planning should have its own day of the week if you ask me. I’m seriously random, and my life has little routine. What you see is what you get, it may not always be food – or exercise for that matter.

Speaking of exercise – running and yoga is where it’s at lately. I’m doing Courtney’s October Yoga Challenge, and am also running 3 to 4 days a week. I’m improving tremendously with running, and I fall more and more in love with it every day. I’m hoping I can sign up for my first little 5k soon, and that Matt will do it with me. (hint, hint)

That’s it for now. It’s Grey’s Thursday, and I have to emotionally prepare! So close to Friday!

Foodie Pen Pals Reveal

At the beginning of the month I got an email from a girl named Ashley from Vermont, letting me know she was going to be my Foodie Pen Pal for the month of September. Although Ashley doesn’t have a blog herself, she sent me an email sharing some information about her so I would know a little something about the girl who was sending me a package of food! She shared a couple of pictures with me and her mutual love of all things fall, pearls, and JCrew. I’m pretty sure we’d be great friends if she lived anywhere near me!

fp4

This was my first month participating in Foodie Pen Pals so I was probably overly excited when my package arrived from Ashley. Not only did she include some seriously sweet finds, she also included a super cute hand written note explaining each item.

The first thing I dug into was the coffee toffee. I’m not going to lie when I tell you that stuff only lasted a couple of days in my house. It was so good! It’s probably a good thing it’s not sold around here otherwise I might be a little heftier. Winking smile  This was also my first time trying real maple syrup. I haven’t actually topped it on any waffles yet, but I tasted a little on my finger and OMG – I’m seriously missing out! It’s amazing!

And the Monkey Chews? Total save for the morning I was almost late for breakfast! It was yummy and filling, and I was able to eat it on the go!

I’ll be honest when I say nothing from the box lasted more than a week except the syrup. Thank you Ashley for sending me such tasty items, and for the awesome note! You rock!

Frush Yogurt & Fruit Shakes: Product Review

A couple of weeks ago I received a nice package on my doorstep. Origin food group, the makers of Frush Yogurt & Fruit Shakes sent me a cooler full of their shakes to review. Not only did they send enough for me to try out, but enough for a few of my co workers and family to try as well.

Along with the cooler they sent me an information packet to let me know what their company and their shakes were all about, and some other cool stuff to hand out to whoever I chose.

“Frush is a company who’s all natural offerings include shakes in strawberry, blueberry, peach and strawberry banana flavors available in 8.4 oz and 32 oz. sizes. Their mission is committed to developing healthy, affordable, tasty, and innovative foods that offer healthy alternatives for today’s fast paced lifestyles. They believe producing value-added products gives their customers the nutrition they need while fittings seamlessly into their lifestyles.”

The first flavor I tried was peach, which tasted great! I’m always down for anything peach flavored and this was right up my ally! Matt tasted the strawberry banana and was sold – he tried every flavor and loved both the taste and the texture! Being a yogurt smoothie, it is thicker than most but I sort of liked it better?! Other than Matt and me I took them to work and let a couple of coworkers try them, and took them to my parents for them and my siblings to try. My 13 year old sister is one of the pickiest eaters/drinkers in the world and she loves these. I think they are perfect for a snack for kids! The only complaints I heard were about the texture. Some people just weren’t into the thickness but I was a fan.

I know some of you may be interested in the health and nutrition value of the smoothies – obviously, right? Frush has 50% of your daily value of calcium and 9 grams of protein per 8.4 oz bottle. Not too bad right? The one thing that did bother me was the amount of sugar in the drinks. 33 grams is pretty high for me, especially with me trying to cut down lately.

Overall thoughts – I like the company, and what they stand for, and what they are trying to do. I think the shakes taste delicious, but with the sugar content it’s not something I would purchase regularly or keep in my house. I think these would be perfect for kids – especially the one’s who are totally against being healthy.

For more information about Origin Food Groups and their Frush shakes head on over to their websites.

Disclaimer: Origin Foods provided me with a cooler of their Frush Shakes for your review. All opinions are my own.

Random mostly. Delicious, nonetheless. Healthy with a little indulgence here and there.

Things I’m loving lately:

Dark Chocolate. These little Dove chocolates are not only delicious, but inspiring as well. One or two is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

ba4

Wedding Planning. It’s fun to see things start to come together! It’s also a nice feeling like I’m starting to get things accomplished! *Remind me of this love in a couple of days when I’m so stressed out again, okay?

Running. I’m obsessed. I’m assuming because I’m getting so much better, and my endurance has improved drastically. I think it may be time for me to register for my first race? We’ll see!

ba3

Yoga. Because with all that running, my muscles need serious stretching. And my foam roller. God bless that foam roller!

The dermatologist. Because I had my first skin check yesterday and I left with a clean bill of skin health!

ba5

Pumpkin and cooler weather. Seriously, who doesn’t love fall? More time outside, and tons of sweet treats. Not to mention sweet pumpkin treats can be pretty easy to healthify!

What are you guys loving lately?! Share!

Wedding Exhaustion

I made it through Monday! Whew, I am still spent from this past weekend’s festivities! I’m sure breakfast had something to do with helping me pull through my work day. Hot oatmeal with bananas, chia seeds, and barney butter. I’m loving these cool mornings, and I thank them for giving me the reason to bring back oatmeal for breakfast!

jw3

Lunch was an exploded Amy’s Pocket Sandwich that went unpictured, and dinner was an egg and veggie scramble. My stomach has been a little off today – probably because of my terrible weekend eats – so I thought keeping it simple was a good idea for dinner.

jw2

Now, rewind to this weekend I keep talking about. One of my very best friends got married, and I was lucky enough to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. Between the rehearsal dinner Friday, the ceremony Saturday, and the bridal shower I went to Sunday (for another wedding I’m in next month) – I am so exhausted I can hardly keep my head up. Jessica’s wedding, though, was worth every bit of the exhaustion I’m experiencing. She was by far, the most beautiful bride I have ever seen in my life, and the ceremony and reception were both wonderful! She got married at the same place Matt and I are getting married, which made our upcoming nuptials seem even more real. I just can’t wait!

jw1

Congratulations Jessica and Mike! I love you more than you know Mrs.!

Back to regularly scheduled blogging tomorrow! Until then, I’m going to catch up on some sleep! Goodnight!
