Matt’s Birthday Part 1

Whew, it’s been a busy busy weekend. I am exhausted, and can’t wait to settle in and watch my Sunday night shows – but first let’s back it up a little.

Matt’s birthday was actually yesterday but, he and I decided to start the celebrations Friday. He had a meeting in Charlotte, NC for work and got home around 3pm. First thing he did was grab his presents and bring them straight to me with this “Pleasseee!! Can I open? Can I open?” look on his face.

I got him a few pictures, a bottle of bourbon to put in a decanter that I got him for Valentine’s Day, some rocks glasses, and a trip to the chiropractor’s office. Other than the chiropractor, all his gifts were to go in his new office.

After a nap, we got ready for dinner. We went to Gerhard’s Café, a restaurant local to our area. Gerhard’s is a really cool place, with a really cool vibe.

You have the choice of sitting in the formal dining area, the “Beer Garden” (which is open to outside – but still considered inside), or outside. We wanted to sit in the formal dining because of the heat, but unfortunately it was all booked for the night so we sat in The Beer Garden. Even though the heat was killing my hair, dinner was incredible. I stuck with a simple grilled chicken caesar salad with homemade dressing on the side. The dressing was out of this world! Hands down best salad I’ve ever had. Matt opted for the seafood alfredo which was homemade pasta with lobster, shrimp, and scallops drizzled with truffle oil. Also, the best pasta I’ve ever had. The pictures just don’t do them justice.

After dinner, I had intentions of having some of Matt’s friends meet at The Cellar here in Spartanburg for karaoke as a surprise but, he sort of ruined it. I guess he had no faith in me, so he was going behind me inviting everyone after I did – I finally just gave in and told him.

We had SO MUCH FUN celebrating our friends! We are very lucky to be surrounded by such good people! I’ll leave you with pictures from start to finish, let’s just say we felt the effects of Friday all the way through Saturday afternoon.
